Martian Meditation 10

The Martian temple is a place of great peace and serenity. The walls are lined with intricate carvings and the air is thick with the scent of incense. The Martians sit in lotus position on their cushions, eyes closed and hands resting lightly on their knees. They breathe deeply, letting the calmness of the temple wash over them. For hours they meditate, lost in thought or simply empty of all thought. Time has no meaning here; there is only the eternal now. The silence is broken only by an occasional soft footstep or murmur from one of the other meditators. Eventually, slowly, they begin to stir back to awareness of their bodies and surroundings once again. Opening their eyes, they take in the beauty of the carvings around them before getting up and stretching their muscles.
