Martian Architecture 20
Martian Architecture 20
The first thing one notices about Martian architecture is the lack of right angles. Everywhere you look, buildings and homes are curved, seemingly carved out of the red rock that is ubiquitous on the planet. The second thing you notice is the way that light plays off of these structures; at certain times of day, they almost seem to glow from within. Martian architects have long been fascinated by the way that light can be used to create different effects and moods, and they have incorporated this into their designs. Many buildings have skylights or windows placed in strategic locations to maximize the amount of natural light that comes in. Other buildings are designed so that artificial lights can create a variety of different effects, depending on the time of day or night. No matter what time it is, though, Martian architecture always has a sense of otherworldly beauty. It's as if you're stepping into another world when you enter one of these buildings; a world where anything is possible and where the only limit is your imagination.
