Martian Lotus 38

On the Martian lake, the lotus flower is a beautiful and serene sight. The petals are a deep red, almost burgundy color. They are slightly translucent, so when the setting sun casts its last rays of light on them, they seem to glow from within. The center of the flower is a deep yellow, almost golden color. Around the edge of the lake, the flowers grow in abundance, their roots reaching deep into the water to drink in its nutrients. As night falls and the temperature on Mars drops significantly, the lotus flowers close up tightly, protecting themselves until morning comes again and they can bloom once more.
