Martian Meditation 19

The Martians sit in meditation in the temple, their bodies still and their minds at peace. They are one with the universe, connected to all that is. They breathe in and out slowly, evenly; they feel the Martian air fill their lungs. They focus on the steady flow of breath moving through them. In and out...in and out... Their thoughts begin to slow down until there is only silence within their minds. There is only the present moment: here, now, on Mars. They are aware of every sensation - the warmth of the sun on their skin, the coolness of stone beneath them - but they do not react or respond to anything outside of themselves. There is a deep sense of calm permeating through every cell in their body; they are completely relaxed yet utterly alert at the same time. Time seems to stand still as they meditate.
