Starbase 28

The sun rises over the Martian landscape, casting a long shadow over Starbase. The massive structure is still and silent, its many windows reflecting the light of the morning star. Inside, the inhabitants are just beginning to stir from their sleep, yawning and stretching as they get ready for another day on Mars. Slowly but surely, life begins to fill the halls of Starbase. People chat and laugh as they make their way to their respective stations; scientists conduct experiments in laboratories; engineers work on repairing broken equipment; children play in classrooms or compete in zero-gravity games in areas designated for recreation. It's another busy day at Starbase, but everyone knows that there's always time for rest and relaxation later when all of their duties have been fulfilled. For now though, it's time to focus on making this huge facility run like a well-oiled machine. After all, with so many people depending on them – not just those who live here at Starbase but also those back home on Earth – failure is simply not an option!
