Starbase 33

It's morning on the Martian Starbase, and the sun is shining. The air is crisp and clean, and the sky is a deep blue. The stars are out, and they're so bright. It's beautiful here. Starbase is a busy place this time of day. People are getting up and starting their day, going to work or school or whatever it is they do. There's a lot of activity in the exercise room as people get their workout in for the day. And in the cafeteria, there's a line for breakfast already forming. But even with all this activity going on around them, everyone seems to have a sense of calm about them. It's like they know that no matter what happens during their day, at nightfall they'll be back home safe on Mars. "It feels good to be part of something bigger than yourself; something that will one day become humanity's new home. Even though it might not seem like it sometimes," says one woman as she pauses outside the gym, "Every single person here knows that we're making history."
