It is the afternoon on Mars, and the sun hangs low in the sky, casting a long shadow over the Martian Starbase. Starbase is a massive structure, built to accommodate the many colonists that have come to Mars in search of a new home. It is still under construction, but it is already an impressive sight. The base is situated on a vast plain near one of Mars' great canyons. The surrounding terrain is red and dusty, but inside the base there are green gardens and clean white walls. The air smells fresh and ozone-rich from all of the oxygen generators that keep everyone alive here on this hostile planet. Today, there was another ship that arrived from Earth carrying more settlers seeking to start anew amongst the stars. They will be given tours of the facility and then assigned living quarters within one of its many wings. As they explore their new home, they will no doubt be amazed by all that has been accomplished here on Mars; thanks in large part to them –the brave pioneers who were willing to take up residence on this strange world.
