It was always a little surreal to see the planet out the windows. Despite all her years living on Mars, Cynara never tired of it. The red dust, the rocky landscape; it was like being on another world. And in a way, she supposed, that's exactly what it was. Starbase was always busy; there were travelers from all over the solar system coming and going at all hours of the day and night. But even with the bustle of activity, there was still a feeling of peace here. It wasn't just because they were surrounded by space; Cynara felt like there was something special about this place. Maybe it was because they were one of the few places in the solar system where humans and Martians lived and worked together harmoniously (most of the time). Or maybe it was just because after so many years away from Earth, she had finally found somewhere she could call home.
